Francis Hawkings, Coalition for Engaged Education Board Chair, is Managing Director of the Center for Corporate Innovation, a management consulting firm which organizes roundtable forums for senior executives in technology, healthcare, and other industries. The roundtables lead to better corporate performance by enabling senior leaders to learn from each others’ experience and to discuss critical business issues in a confidential peer setting.
For many years, Francis was a partner with L.E.K. Consulting, most recently as head of L.E.K.’s Los Angeles office. His career at this international strategy consulting firm spanned its early years through its growth to a 350-person international organization, and he helped grow a substantial U.S. West Coast practice, as well as establishing successful practices in telecommunications, media, entertainment, and internet strategy.
Francis was Senior Vice President, Business Strategy, for Opnext, Inc., a fiber optic components company spun out from Hitachi in 2001. Before Opnext, Francis was president of Event411.com, Inc., with operating responsibility for most aspects of this 85-person internet software company which provided web-based software for meeting and event planning.
Francis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, politics, and economics, summa cum laude, and his BPhil (between a Master’s and a PhD) in moral and political philosophy, both from Oxford University. His Master of Science degree in management is from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Francis was a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship and the sole UK recipient of a George Washington Business Scholarship and an ITT International Fellowship.
